To Marquis of Pombal, this is the Charter of the village of Oeyras given by the Majesty of El Rey Fidilissimo D. Jose the First Our Snõr in the Year 1760. 36x26 cm. With 14 folios. Important document from a historical and artistic point of view. Edition printed on parchment paper and with the leaves cut in fine gold. Velvet-covered editorial binding. Perfect reproduction of the original manuscript (1760), presenting the frontispiece exuberantly decorated in color with a frame with floral motifs, surmounted by the royal coat of arms, followed by another sheet with a coat of arms, we believe that belongs to the Count of Oeiras, surmounted by the respective crown; the text appears enamelled with numerous artistically calligraphed letters. D. José, by the grace of God, King of Portugal and the Algarves, on this side of the sea and beyond, Lord of Guinea and Conquest, Navigation, Commerce of Ethiopia, Arabia, Persia and India. To all who see this Charter of Foral given to the town of Oeiras and its surroundings, I, having decided to erect the town of Oeiras and appoint the Count Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, of my Council and Secretary of State for the Kingdom, as its Count, requested by the said Count, am pleased to order a Foral by which the royal rights and other taxes in the said town shall be regulated and collected.
