In this self-portrait, I captured a moment of introspection. With the eyes, looking downwards, I depict a solitary moment of reflection. Bathed in a subdued light, the painting exudes a silent intensity, inviting viewers into the inner sanctum of ones thoughts and vulnerabilities. This artwork was made on paper, especially prepared for oil paints. Also, only the highest quality of oilpaints were used. The artwork comes in a clip frame with pass-partout (40 x 30 cm). But the art work can easily be framed differently. You can pick-up the painting at my studio in Rotterdam, or it will be carafully packaged. Hand-signed on the back and on the back of the frame. ---- ABOUT THE ARTIST | ROSA BOOMSMA ---- In the modern realistic paintings by Rosa Boomsma, there is more than meets the eye. There's something going on underneath. In her "human still lifes" she tries to go beyond appearance and into our inner world. Boomsma is driven by a form of melancholy; a certain sadness about transience but also the beauty thereof. By using techniques from the old masters she creates modern compositions, often inspired by the Flemish primitives. Boomsma has received numerous nominations for the Dutch Portrait Prize and her work has even been pre-selected for the portrait prize of the National Portrait Gallery in London this year. Amongst other places, her work has hung in De Fundatie, CODA Museum, Soestdijk Palace and Slot Zeist. Boomsma also painted the winning portrait of Eva Jinek for the Dutch TV program 'Sterren op het Doek'.
