Very rare original first Deluxe edition from Dali's La Divine Comédie, published by Joseph Foret, with text on Japon nacré and a double drawing by Dali. Salvador Dali - La Divine Comédie First French Deluxe Edition published by Joseph Foret, Paris. This is one of 10 'ad personam' Deluxe Editions with text on Japon Nacré paper. There are no justification pages with the suite, but a dedication 'Pour Jean Subrenat 1969' Reference: Field catalogue page 189-200 The suite contains the following items: - 6 Deluxe cases with the content described below - double drawing by Dali, signed twice and a dedication to Mr. Jean Subrenat, dated 1969 - 100 original woodcut prints, mounted in Japon Nacré passepartout's (size incl. passepartout 33 x 26 cm) - All text pages on Japon nacré (size text per page 33 x 26 cm) - 4 plate signed copperplate engravings on "Lyon Satin" silk. 1 in blue ink from L'Enfer I 1 in black ink from L'Enfer II 2 in red ink from Le Purgatoire I & II (size silk 43 x 33 cm) - 1 original lithograph of the 101st painting Dali made for the Divine Comedie, titled 'La Danse'. This is the first edition of La Danse and is different from regular 'La Danse' lithographs because the lithographs is plate signed but also dated '1951'. (size 43 x 34 cm) - 1 Photograph of Dali by P. Almasy (size 43 x 34 cm) The suite is in (very) good condition given the fact that is 60 years old. This suite is an 'ad personam' Foret Divine Comedy edition from an edition of 10 examples, this one specialy for Mr. Jean Subrenat, owner of restaurant La Méditerranée in Paris. (A few years afterward it was signed and dedicated by Dali to Mr. Subrenat, probably during a diner in Mr. Subrenat's restaurant that was popular with artists who stayed in Paris) There is an additional suite on japon nacré that was part of the 'Jean Subrenat' suite, but this did not have a box with it, so we offer it as a separate suite aside from the suite with text.
