Springbank Distillery is one of the last remaining distilleries producing Campbeltown single malt whiskies. The brewery is located on the southern Kintyre peninsula, and three different types of single malt whiskeys are made. Springbank Single Malt is a 10 year old, which is distilled two and a half times. This process is quite unique: during distillation, a portion is tapped off and added again for the next distillation. This means that some of it is distilled twice, and some of it is distilled three times. The spirit is then matured in bourbon and sherry casks, although Springbank is also experimenting with rum casks.
