al-Abd Muhammad - Ikhlaq al Muhsinin - 1558

An interesting leaf from a copy of the Ikhlaq al Muhsinin (Muslim Way of Life), scribed by al-Abd Muhammad of Persia in 1558. It has been touched by time as you can see from image 1d, as there are numerous worm-hole marks in the leaf. The main body of the script is in fine black nasta'liq within a golden framed border. Each of the 7 lines of script is pillowed by gold clouds and there is Persian commentary in red between these lines. There is further commentary in the generous margin surrounding the script, and a wide floral border in gold to frame the leaf. Ikhlaq - broadly translated as the reformation of morals - is a well known treatise on expected morals and behaviours based on the Koran. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
