Two strands of ancient carnelian, banded agate and jasper beads sourced in Mali.
Strand 1. Ancient carnelian and jasper beads of the same shape and style of cuting. Matched and graduated beads.
Beads measures: from ø 5,4 to 14 mm.
Strand length (bead to bead): 34,5 cm. / 13,6 inches.
Strand 2. Ancient carnelian beads.
Beads measures: from ø 4,1 to 10,4 mm.
Strand length (bead to bead): 30 cm. / 11,8 inches.

Beads of this kind coming from Djenné excavations are dated from the 9 to 13th Centuries. Most of them were made in India and traded to Western Africa and Asia by Islamic merchants. Some may be African-made.
