Pur Sang 2005: The 2005 Blanc Fume de Pouilly Pur Sang smells alluringly of lime, ripe honeydew melon, and lily-of-the-valley. Palpably dense and chalky, it is nevertheless far more generous today than Dageuneau’s “Renard” bottling, offering a Margarita-like salt-tinged lime and lusciously ripe melon fruit personality underlain by persistent, diverse, and subtle mineral suggestions, and finishing with a length and poise that do not in any obvious way betray Dagueneau’s use of new wood. Buisson Renard 2007: Both Didier and Benjamin Dagueneau consider this bottling to be the best ever produced from this vineyard. Alas, the crop yields were minimal, but the results are spectacular. Very tightly wound initially in both the nose and mouth, the nose reveals a broad array of both minerals, citrus and some hints of tropical aromas. After breathing the lean structure gives forth to a marvelous balance of lime, flint and deicate hints of mango. The follow through is intense, long and riveting. No shipment outside of Europe and Switserland, Liechtenstein, United Kingdom, Guernsey, Monaco, Norway, Canary Islands, Cyprus, Iceland and San Marino.
