DESCRIPTION This is a very beautiful Kutani ware vase. It expresses an elegant beauty by applying gold leaf to a light green base. Minori Yoshida 吉田美統 was born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1932 and is currently designated as a Living National Treasure. His technique involves using thin and thick gold leaf to create a sense of depth. This technique is known as "yurikinsai 釉裏金彩," and Minori Yoshida is a master of it. The extremely thin gold leaf used requires skill in cutting and handling. After applying the gold leaf, a transparent glaze is applied to enhance the natural color of the gold, and this gold color can be preserved without discoloration. The subdued and dignified beauty of his work is highly acclaimed as an exquisite piece of art both in Japan and abroad. Good condition, there is partially minor peeling of the gold leaf.
