This is a rare old flag. Unlike the regular Hinomaru, this traditional Japanese flag is called the Rising Sun flag(旭日旗), with the sun's rays emanating from the Hinomaru. The Class A Flight Preparatory Trainee (甲飛) program was established in 1937. *会 means "group" in Japanese. There are pinning holes at the four corners.
