Wolf Creek - iron meteorite from Australia, crater maker! - Height: 31 mm - Width: 48 mm - 53.9 g

Here is a rare specimen of 53,9 grams WOLFE CREEK (IIIB) IRON METEORITE. Wolfe Creek Crater is a well-preserved meteorite impact crater in Western Australia. The crater averages about 875 meters in diameter and 60 meters from rim to present crater floor. Though this is classified as a medium octahecrite the material is so ancient (just like the crater) that very little iron remains as they are totally altered, hence they make for great collection pieces! Meteorite hunting is no longer allowed at the site, making these old-collection specimens a must for those who are intrigued by crater-forming irons. Wolf Creek is one of only about 15 craters on Earth that have produced recoverable meteorites and also one of the oldest, with an age of 120.000-137.000 years. It was discovered during an aerial reconnaissance in 1947. NO RESERVE PRICE ! Please note: sorry, no shipping to Asia, Africa, South America, Russia, Turkey and Switzerland
