Beautiful and mystical depiction with lively colors of a classic representation in the Russian Orthodox Sacred Art. Iconography: The Mother of God is shown frontal, with her hands raised in the orans position covered by the maphorion and the chiton clothes. Christ is shown within a round aureole upon her breast. Christ is blessing with his right hand and holding the globe in his left hand. This iconography is a derivation of Isaiah's prophecy: "The Lord himself will give you a sign, a Virgin will conceive a Son and his name will be Emmanuel" It has somewhat “hard to explain” divine aura with a golden glow which makes it very special. A rare collector item. Condition: In good condition,painting shows signs of craquelure as expected. The eyes seams to be shut by some kind of oxidation from the paint.
