This exceptional piece is an authentic preliminary pencil page from “The Smurfs”, created within the original Peyo’s Studio. -- Pencil and color pencils on paper format 30 x 21 cm The designer of The Smurfs series and universe is the Belgian Francophone author Peyo, whose real name is Pierre Culliford. He created The Smurfs in 1958 and wrote and designed several of the first 16 albums in the series. To assist in its creation, he founded a studio in his own home in 1964, with various talented artists like Walthéry, Derib, Gos, and others contributing to the series. Yvan Delporte was the co-author responsible for the scripts during this foundational period. Later, Peyo formed a new studio for Les Schtroumpfs (The Smurfs) alongside other designers in the late 1980s.
