CHELYABINSK - super famous meteorite fall in Russia in 2013 - Height: 17.2 mm - Width: 17.6 mm - 6.9 g

CHELYABINSK is one of the most famous meteorites due to the variety of recordings of the fall available. It is estimated that thousands of people were injured due to the shock wave that broke many windows and roofs of houses and factories in the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia, on February 15th, 2013 at 9:20 local time. The light of the meteorite was brighter than the Sun, even at 100 km distance. It was observed over a wide area of the region and neighboring republics. Because of its high velocity ans shallow angle of atmospheric entry it exploded in an air burst at a height of around 29.7 km. The explosion generated a bright flash, producing a hot cloud of dust and gas, and many surviving small fragmentary meteorites, as well as a large shock wave. The majority of the object's energy was absorbed by the atmosphere, with a total energy before atmospheric impact equivalent to approximately 500 kilotons of TNT. Chelyabinsk meteorites have a black fusion crust and white interior and are classified as LL5 chondrites. See last picture for the specifications. Chelyabinsk meteorites are indispensable in every collection. Sizes of specimens vary but most common weights are jus a few grams and sometimes less. This one is a nice almost spheric 6.9 grams specimen. Get yours while they last. NO RESERVE PRICE ! Please note: sorry, no shipping out of the European Schengen zone
