2018 E. Guigal Chateau d'Ampuis Côte-Rôtie - Rhône - 1 Magnum (1.5L)

93% Syrah and 7% Viognier. This deep red wine with mauve reflections exudes aromas of spices, black fruits, and wood. Wine with intense tannins and the delightful taste of plums, blackberries, and vanilla. Full-bodied and structured. Domain Guigal is a pioneer in "single vineyard" wines in Côte Rôtie. From its three most famous vineyards, "La Landonne", "La Mouline", and "La Turque", come the most sought-after and renowned wines in the world. The Guigal story begins in 1924 when Etienne Guigal, at the age of 14, starts working in the cellars of Vidal Fleury. By 1946, he has been cellar master for some time and decides it is time to establish his own company. This took place in Ampuis, located in the heart of the Côte Rôtie appellation. In 1961, his son Marcel joins the company. He currently leads Guigal, and his son Philippe, the 3rd generation, is responsible for the wine production process. Guigal makes "simple" winemaking genius. They work entirely organically in the vineyards, maintain low yields, and there is no intervention in the cellars. In short, they work with respect for nature and passion for wine. In addition to the "La, La, La" wines, Côte Rôtie "Château d'Ampuis", Condrieu "La Doriane", and L'Ermitage "Ex Voto" are some of the estate's other crown jewels. Soil The soil where the vines are planted is very diverse and includes sandstone and granite. Age The vines have an average age of 30 years old. Yield An average of 30,000 bottles per year. Harvest The harvest is entirely manual and undergoes rigorous selection. Vinification The harvest goes into stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation under controlled temperature and maceration for 4 weeks. Unique aging of 38 months in new oak.
