The label says: Petrus Joannes Mantegatia fecit Mediolani in via S Margaritae 1796. The violin has an excellent straight medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. The whole length of the violin is 589 mm and the back 356 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 164 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 205 mm.
