Very beautiful sculpture by the French artist Auguste Moreau (1834-1917). Like no other, Moreau is able to produce a sculpture of this quality. The sculpture is nicely detailed. Was signed on the base “August. Moreau'. From the middle to the front, the statue is titled '' L'Enfant au Canard '' - This Age is merciless', by Auguste Moreau (Med. D'Or). At the back are the brand " FABRICATION FRANCAISE- MADE IN FRANCE, PARIS", and especially the " COPYRIGHT BY D & JR 1906" . The sculpture is in good condition with some traces of aging. Dimensions : 42cm x 15cm A sculpture of this size and quality is only rarely offered for sale. .Photos complete this description, so please study them carefully before bidding. The third and youngest son of sculptor and painter Jean-Baptiste Moreau, Auguste began creating sculptural works alongside his older brothers Hippolyte and Mathurin. In 1861, Auguste Moreau made his debut at the Salon, where he exhibited regularly and abundantly until 1913. Moreau cast much of his sculptural work in bronze, often choosing pastoral or allegorical scenes as his subject matter. The fine works exhibit a naturalistic, elegant style, showing similarity to pieces cast by other members of the Moreau dynasty. Today, Auguste Moreau’s sculpture is as highly prized as ever, and can be found in many important public institutions, galleries and collections around the world.
