A very fine old 4/4 italian violin, labeled Januarius Gagliano filius Alexandri fecit Neap. 1743. The instrument is in ready to play condition with no visible cracks, grafted scroll, bushed peg-holes, new ebony set up, new master made bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of amazing softly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish remains in good condition. The whole length of the violin is 590 mm and the back 358 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 161 mm; middle bouts: 111 mm; lower bouts: 201 mm. The sound is very good, powerful, deep and rich, suitable for soloist. Shipping worldwide insured
