Clifford Hall (1904-1973) - Leo Kersley in practice costume

This painting captures the young talented Leo Kersley during rehearsals. The well renowned ballet dancer and co-founded of the Sadler's Well Theatre Ballet in London performed all around the world. After teaching in the US and Europe Kersley decided to open a school in his home country with his wife and together they co-authored "A Dictionary of Ballet Terms". The dancer died in 2012. The artwork is in good conditions, there is a minor imperfection on Kersley's black tights as shown in one of the pictures however it is hardly noticeable and easy to fix with a minor restauration. The wooden frame is clearly hand carved, its original colour is gold but it was painted over with white. Clifford Hall was a British painter who was born in 1904. Clifford Hall's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from 9€ to 7000€ depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 1998 the record price for this artist at auction is 6056£ for Resting nude, sold at Christie's South Kensington in 2007. The artist died in 1973.
