It was created to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Columbus' first voyage to the New World in 1492. It is the first edition of La Mauny Distillerie Mauny bottled well before the AOC Martinique. Le "Nouveau Monde" is the fruit of the Distillery Cellar Master. It reveals a rum with a unique and exceptional character. With tonicity and exuberance, an uncomplicated association of the delicate fragrances characteristic of Maison La MAUNY with spicy and woody notes. The edition and its packaging have evolved over time: there are in fact other more modern editions, unnumbered, as well as a version marketed under the name "Le Nouveau Monde" released in 2015 in a carafe. ___________________________________________________________________ About the distillery LA MAUNY The history of La Mauny rums begins in 1749 when Ferdinand Poulain, Count of Mauny, arrived in Martinique. He married the daughter of a planter who owned an estate located in Rivière-Pilote, and founded Domaine La MAUNY. Located in the south of Martinique, the town of Rivière-Pilote benefits from a unique microclimate in Martinique. This valley, hot and very humid, experiences less rain and more sunshine than the island average. Combined with volcanic black clay soil, this "Grand Cru" terroir gives the canes an exceptional sugar content. In 1820, the estate developed a new production of Rhum Agricole, made from pure fresh juice from the plantation's sugar canes. In 1950, La MAUNY became the first rum brand to export its bottles to mainland France. La Mauny rums are today an integral part of the Campari group.
