PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s). 2006 Warre's Quinta da Cavadinha Vintage Port 3 x 0.75L DESCRIPTION Founded in 1670, Warre’s is the first and the oldest British port company established in Portugal. By the end of the 18th century, Warre’s had become one of the leading port companies, shipping 2,937 pipes in 1791, 10% of the total sold by 21 companies in that year. The Warre’s name is synonymous with the history of the British in Porto. Warre’s continues to be famous for its Vintage Ports, a reputation which began with its very fine late nineteenth and early twentieth century Vintages. This legacy has endured into the 21st century with the outstanding 2000, 2007, 2011 and 2016 Vintage Ports. The Warre's 2016 Vintage Port was awarded the No#14 spot in The Wine Spectator's prestigious Top 100 Wines of 2018, the highest ranking Portuguese wine. Today Warre's sources its grapes from the beautiful Quinta da Cavadinha in the Pinhão Valley, as well as Quinta do Retiro, Quinta da Telhada, Quinta do Alvito and Quinta das Netas. Warre's signature style is floral, fresh and elegant, reflecting the particular characteristics of these higher altitude vineyards. WINEMAKER: Charles Symington. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 93 Points Jamie Goode 92 Points Wine Spectator Silver Medal Decanter World Wine Awards WINE VARIETIES: Old Vines. VINIFICATION These wines have some similarities with Warre's Otima 10 and 20 Years (both styles are old tawnies), but as wines from a single harvest, this Porto Colheita distinctly reflects the individual characteristics of the year 1992. The year 1992 was marked by one of the driest winters on record, but thanks to heavy rains at the beginning of August and a summer that was not excessively hot, the vineyards produced grapes in very good condition, with balanced maturation and good color. TASTING NOTES Wine with a very deep color, practically opaque, with a crimson edge. Intense and brooding aromas of black fruits that marry with fragrances of rockrose and fresh mint. Beautiful fresh mango notes. In the mouth it presents delicious ripe plum and blueberry, very compact, filling the mouth but simultaneously smooth and elegant. Wonderful chocolate notes in a persistent finish. SERVING Excellent dessert wine to enjoy alone or with chocolate desserts or blue cheeses. Store in a horizontal position, in a cool and dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve at a temperature between 15ºC and 16ºC. Consume in moderation.
