Japan - Flag - Vintage Hinomaru Yosegaki Flag and Army Water bottle,World War II, Military

◆Hinomaru Yosegaki Flag 日の丸 寄せ書き Size: 88×98 cm Material: cotton This is a rare old flag. During World War II, the Japanese created this flag to send soldiers off to war. The words written here are words of support for soldiers going to the battlefield and names of supporters. Japanese flags have large white margins and are used to communicate intentions to others by writing letters, just like a letter. Various designs exist for wartime yosegaki flags. It is a very powerful flag, because it contains many encouraging words and the names of many people. There are not many flags that have so many "Yosegaki" on them. It conveys a very strong will and even a sense of fear. It is filled with soul. As a Japanese, I feel "SAMURAI 侍," "BUSHIDO 武士道," and the strong spiritual power of Japan in this flag. It is a wonderful work, full of presence. The color that dyed the red circled area has been lost, creating a pattern. It is rare to find one that has faded so much. This is interesting and valuable in a way. " 凱旋 gaisen" It means to win the battle and return home. We know that when a group of soldiers returned to Japan after winning the Pacific War, this flag was raised and celebrated. "一同 ichidou" By writing these letters, it is possible to omit filling in everyone's name. In other words, the names of many people could originally have been written but were omitted. It may be because the number of soldiers gathered was large. ◆Army water bottle Size: 20×14×8 cm Weight: 400 g Year: 昭十六 showa16 = 1941 The name of this owner is written on the surface of the water bottle. It is "山下 Yamashita." This was written by the owner, who scraped it off with a knife. And on the underside of the water bottle is engraved evidence of the year of manufacture. "昭十六" This means "1941" Soldiers fighting in the Pacific War come to mind. Other rare items are also available in my current auction. Please check them out.
