PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s). 2018 Quinta do Pessegueiro Late Bottled Vintage Port 5 x 0.75L Port Wine DESCRIPTION The philosophy of Roger Zannier's estate combines the wisdom of traditional Douro viticulture with modern scientific knowledge. The sharing of knowledge, the passion, motivation and commitment of the employees, who also cultivate respect for the land and nature, make it possible to improve, vintage after vintage, the quality of the wines of Quinta do Pessegueiro, making it today one of the great Douro wines. The entire vineyard is farmed in a way that respects the natural balance, banishes herbicides and is close to organic farming. We already have 18 ha (60%) certified and the remaining 12 ha, although not certified, are treated in a very similar way to organic. Each plot is cultivated according to the nature of the soil, the slope, the exposure and the varieties that populate it. The horse is also an essential assistant in the work of the espalier vines. WINEMAKER: João Cabral Nicolau de Almeida. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 17.5 Points, Vinho Grandes Escolhas 90 Points, Wine Enthusiast 90 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine (2011 Vintage) WINE VARIETIES: Old Vines (40%), Touriga Nacional (40%) & Touriga Franca (20%). WINE VARIETIES: Touriga Nacional (55%) & Touriga Franca (45%). VINIFICATION The grapes come from two plots of 40-year-old vines: 60% of one of the plots of Touriga Franca with southwest exposure and an altitude of 250m and 40% of a plot with northwest exposure and an altitude of 150m. Both soils are slaty, with little earth and many stones. After manual harvesting into 22Kg crates, the grapes were stored in a cold chamber for 12h. Vinification was carried out with foot trading in the winery for 5 days. During aging and until bottling, this wine was not subject to any type of filtration or other treatment. TASTING NOTES Bright ruby color, very fresh aroma of raspberries and cherries. In the mouth, it is robust and intense, ending with a very dry finish. Old style LBV. SERVING Ideal to accompany cheeses, red meat and game dishes. Store in a horizontal position, in a cool and dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve at a temperature of 16ºC to 18ºC. Consume in moderation.
