5 ropes of different old Ashanti beads from the 1930-60's. Made as a copy of European glass beads from the beginning of the 20th Cent. In a grey matrix thin lines of blue and red glass are inserted. These are the largest beads ( apprx. 10 x 13 mm). An other variant comprises of a black matrix with thin white lines. and beads of a white matrix with grey lines. Next to these, oldest , beads glass beads with a layering of dark blue and are presented ( 13 x 7 mm) and beads with an alternating layering of thin blue and grey lines. All ropes were collected in the city of Kumasi in the late 1990's.
