Netherlands - Original Dutch M27 / M34 Helmet Plate - taken from helmet - mobilization - May 1940 - Military equipment - 1940

Nice 100% original Dutch helmet front plate, with the heraldic lion designed by Chris van der Hoef. Has a beautiful patina and was periodic modified for a keepsake. Rare item from the Dutch prewar army. The lion emblem had already been extensively discussed on 13 December 1923 in an interim report of the Helmet Commission. The Rijksmunt from Utrecht was called upon for the production, which asked Chris van der Hoef to design the lion emblem. Van der Hoef came as far as known with two sketches. One with a crowned W of Queen Wilhelmina and one with a heraldic Dutch Lion. The latter design was preferred, which was approved on March 31, 1927. The lion emblem was made of red copper and was soldered onto the helmet. See also our other interesting WW2 items thatwe offer for auction on catawiki!
