Ashanti beads - Achantis - Ghana (No Reserve Price)

A fine collection of locally produced glass beads. These beads were produced using ground-up bottles and burning this glasspowder in traditional local kilns. Alternating layers of different colours of glasspowder are poured into clay moulds, giving these beads a nice striped appareance. What is special about these beads is the very small size of them. These are rare to find sizes. The orange/brown beads are 14 x 6 mm. The yellow/green/red beads are 4 x 8 mm. Finally the beads on the three other ropes of green/orange/grey beads are 4 x 9 mm. Collected in the city of Kumasi in the late 1990's.
