ARGENTINA, PATAGONIA Bodega Chacra PIERO INCISA DELLA ROCCHETTA / MAINQUÉ, PATAGONIA Bodega Chacra is the visionary project of Piero Incisa della Rocchetta which came to life in 2004 in the Mainqué terroir, in the Rio Negro region of Patagonia. Piero's intent was to transcribe in the wines the purest and freest expression of the climate, the microclimate and the territory of these places, which is why from the beginning he decided to bet on environmentally friendly agronomic management that follows the precepts of organic and biodynamic agriculture. “Chacra” in Patagonia has a double meaning: on the one hand it is a piece of land usually intended for pomology, on the other the chacras are energy centers of our body in connection with the entire universe through life and vibrations. Wine as a companion to meals, a drink of pleasure and sensitivity, helps us to improve these connections in the intimacy of the gesture of introjection. Even more so, Piero's desire is to return the most transparent expression of the fruit and the place to the glass. Bodega Chacra has around 40 hectares of old ungrafted vineyards planted mostly with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. To biodynamic management is added the preservation of animal and plant biodiversity, thanks to activities such as beekeeping. Respect for nature is also reflected in the work in the cellar: in fact, for Piero, wine is nothing more than the result of thousands of tiny decisions taken day after day in the field. The fermentations are totally spontaneous and filtrations and clarifications are banned in favor of natural decanting, thus guaranteeing the same purity and original materiality of the fruit in the bottle.
