The work is made after a long consideration of trying to change my predispositions through painting. I have a strong tendency towards existentialism, characters that feel lost, melancholic and somehow burdened. I received a lot of positive feedback when I painted a joyful old man. The result was me trying to change my automatic thinking from negative to positive and it seems it might work and hope to have an effect on the viewers as well. The transition from black and white to the colorful sweater captures a shift in the perspective from negative to positive. The sides of the painting are painted in different colors the oppose the grey and radiate. The painting is oil on canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher. It comes shipped very carefully in a box directly from Mihai Cotiga’s studio. The painting is hand signed on the back and it will come with a certificate of authenticity. Mihai Cotiga is a painter based in Bucharest, Romania, whose works have been exhibited nationally and internationally. He uses his life events and thoughts to bring meaning into his work being driven by the curiosity to understand what is around us and the passion to always learn something new.
