Nico Koster as a photographer of the associated press photographed on 29 March 1969 Beatle John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono, during their Bed-in for Peace Action in the Amsterdam Hilton. Nico: ’The press could interview and photograph Lennon, then 28 years old, and the seven years older Ono. He made his first photographs for the associated press, where he worked from 1963 to 1988. For his work he captured numerous special, unforgettable moments in the field of sports, politics, art and royalty. The train hostage taking and the occupation of the Indonesian Consulate in the 1970s made a deep impression on him. His report about that occupation in 1975 earned him the second prize in the category news by World Press Photo. In 1983, he won the Silver Camera. Nico Koster also enjoys fame due to the many artists portraits that he has made over the years.
