The “Antropovarius” adjustable lounge chair was developed in 1982 by Porsche Design Studio in collaboration with the Institute for Ergonomics at the University of Munich. The design is based on a series of experiments on different sitting profiles, determined in part by different body sizes. A system of adjustable rib-elements is attached to a carbon profile (modeled on the human spine) using quick release fasteners, allowing not only classical variability in terms of tilting of the headrest, backrest and leg supports but also complete adjustment to any individual sitting profile.
