Nice and original processional lanterns (flambouw), complete with glass and including 2 black stick for mounting the lanterns on.
The lights date from around 1900, in a fairly good condition, the glass insert of the 1 of the 2 lights is cracked (see close-up photo).
Length of the copper part of the lights = approx. 50 cm, the total length of the lights INCLUDING stick = approx. 1.10 cm.
A flambouw (flambooi, flambeeuw) is a procession lantern that is carried on a long stick or rod.
The procession lantern (flambouw) is used in the Catholic Church at processions, often to accompany the procession cross.
Wearing the procession lantern is a task for the assistants.
