Junghans Borduhr - from the 2nd world war

A very early and rare edition of a cockpit clock from the German airforce from 1934/35. This is one of the first models with a voice handle for the hands, the earlier models had to adjust it via the wind button. It is one of the first with the lever on the right of the handle right in the middle, the later models had the lever positioned underneath and next to the wind button (see the last photo which shows a number of models in order). These clocks are usually missing many of their brass parts (unlike this one) but when the war began and Germany had a shortage of materials the brass wind buttons and brass cover were replaced for a cheaper zinc alloy, the brass lunette became bakelite, the mineral glass became plexi-glass. Most of the clocks now on offer are of this later quality and the earliest models did not survive the war. This is thus an exceptionally rare piece. With original brass parts and real mineral glass. They were mainly used in fighter planes, dive bombers like the STUKA and especially in night fighters (they are not known as "Blindflieguhren" for nothing). The movement runs and works perfectly, holds the time well and adjusts and runs well, all the functions are working.
