Offered is a set of vintage Dual 3-way system speakers of the type CL-710 from the year 1979 in truly mint condition. These beautiful vintage Dual speakers have a minimum power of 60 watts and maximum 80 watts. 4 ohm as well as 8 ohm connections can be made to this beautiful set of speakers (see photo 21). These speakers were real showpieces of the brand Dual in the late 1970s and loved among many who knew the quality of Dual hi-fi and audio. The quality of these speakers is really great after almost 40 years. 1 very small flaw is an almost impossible to find hole in one of the very easily detachable dust covers. The Dual CL710 are the smallest speakers from the 700 series by Dual, they were introduced in the year 1979. In addition, you had the CL720 and the CL730, the latter has, in contrast to the smaller types, which only had a level switch for high and middle tones, a level switch for the bass range. The speakers were available in black and oak at the time and double in the top series. The price of the double CL710 at that moment was 498 DM a piece. The metal body (thermo float) in the middle of the woofer is for cooling on the one hand. Cooler copper wire in the voice coil has a lower resistance than the hot wire, so a stronger magnetic induction, the return and load capacity of the chassis stable. Secondly, the weakening of the inputs and Ausschwingvorgänge eliminates the woofer diaphragm, because it is not necessary to close the air gap calotte. Now to the three clamps on the back of the Dual CL710. The black connection in the middle always needs to be connected to the black connection of the amplifier input. Depending if your amplifier was designed for 4 or 8 ohm operation, you choose the correct red terminal on the speaker. The nominal impedance of 8 ohms is realised by a PTC-thermistor in the CL710, at a low load, the speaker offers around 5 ohms of nominal impedance at a connection of 8 ohms, so the efficiency increases at a low listening volume, with a stronger current than the 8 ohm value. The dynamics are not significantly influenced, because the adjustment is relatively slow. It is also rational to connect very weak 4 ohm amplifier to the 8 ohm connections, when the amplifier is used close to the maximum load, the PTC-thermistor limits the current in the power stages, protects the speaker and amplifiers from overload.
