Rolex - Oyster Perpetual - 6564 - Hombre - 1950 - 1959

Timeless steel early automatic luxury men's wristwatch from the company ROLEX The very fine vintage classic from the 1955s. OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED CHRONOMETER C.O.S.C. MODEL: OYSTER PERPETUAL This is the oldest movement by Rolex in the history of Rolex. The Cal. 1030 produced in 1950 is the first bi-directional automatic crooked mechanical movement that had been produced by Rolex at the time. Adjusted for five positions, it resembles the standard of COSC that had not been a concept during this period. Worth mentioning is that there was a Cal.1000 produced by Rolex before the Cal.1030. Documentation of this can't be found, not even in the database of Rolex. Similar to the Cal.1000 the Cal.1030 is currently the most popular 18000vph movement due in part to the use of mono-metallic compensation balance and the blue steel breguet rolled up with a hairspring. The Cal.1030 also evidences a unique rotor that is completely unlike the ones used today. Two tines on a half-circle engraved with the word "ROLEXPERPETUEL", the outer line is hollowed out, the word "PATENTIERTEN" is engraved below and it has the iconic crown of Rolex. Due to the removal of the rotor and upper disk two big ratch-wheels are revealed above the balance bridge, a recognizable gear regulator for this adjustment. The most well-known piece equipped with this movement model by Rolex is Auster, which started the running pattern ref. 6564 1956. This is the quite older Rolex movement in Rolex history. Cal.1030 produced in 1950 is the first bi-directional automatic winding movement made by Rolex at that time. Adjusted to five positions, during that period without concept of COSC, adjusted to five positions is already somehow equal standard with COSC. Worthy of mentioning that before Cal.1030, there is another Rolex movement Cal.1000. Record even can’t be found at Rolex’s database. Just like Cal.1000, Cal.1030 was the most popular 18000vph movement at the time as well as use of mono-metallic compensation balance and blue steel Breguet overcoil hairspring. Cal.1030 also features an unique rotor which is totally different with today’s, two prongs are hollowed on semi-circle, around the outer race engraved with word of “ROLEXPERPETUAL”, beneath is the word of “PATENTED” and the iconic patter of Rolex crown. By removing the rotor and upper plate, two big ratchet wheels are revealed, above Balance Bridge, is the noticeable regulator for adjustment. Most noted Rolex model equipped with this movement is Oyster Perpetual model Ref.6564 launched in 1956. Manufacturer: Rolex S.A., P.O.
