1941 Rare KODAK 'Bantam' Special. Rangefinder Model.
Arguably, one of the most beautiful art-deco cameras ever produced. Manufactured from c1936 with a machine-tooled polished aluminium die-cast body, finished in black enamel. The styling was by Walter Teague and is a classic.
The model on offer has increased collectability by virtue of its 9-speed Supermatic Model 'O' shutter. The normal German shutter was changed during 1941, for this Kodak version, but was discontinued soon after when production finished.
The camera on offer was marketed c1941 and comes in good-used condition. The shutter works throughout the range, the f2 45mm Ektar lens shows minimal marks. The rangefinder works and gives readings, but not tested for accuracy and the body shows small rubs/marks commensurate to its age and contact with the case. The case is in well-used condition with the lens-cover missing, but providing protection. Photographs give all the evidence/proof.
A beautiful and very rare collectable camera reflecting the art-deco period exactly.
