CMF Bencini Gabri italian box 127 4x6 film format camera made in Italy.
In Milan Antonio Bencini set up a company, the ICAF, and in 1938 he put the first camera on the market: Roby, a metal box fixture for film size 120 and negative 6x9 cm and Gabry, always a metal box device for film format 127 and negative of 4x6 cm. As a curiosity we can say that the names Roby and Gabry derived from the name of the sons of Antonio Bencini, Roberto and Gabriella. Soon the company changed its name and became CFM, even Roby and Gabry changed their name and in application to the rules issued by the fascist regime against foreign words changed the final y in i becoming Robi and Gabri. The camera at the auction is precisely the Gabri, that of the fascist period, the most rare. The silk-screened front is in great condition as the coating is good and complete, and even the metal looks good considering its age. The shutter works and the lenses of the optics are clear and clean. Perfect to be included in a collection of Italian cameras. Not easy to find.
