Mart van Schijndel - Jarrón Delta (1)

The 'Delta' vase is the most famous example of architect van Schijndels' preference for the triangular shape. He developed various prototypes: Punt (Point), Double, Triple and Delta. The Delta model was released eventually in 1981. As opposed to other glass vases, this vase is not made of blown glass, but it is composed from three glass panes glued together with silicone sealant. A corner was cut from every rectangular pane. The minimalist simplicity of the much pirated Delta Vase brought him international recognition. Van Schijndel won the '5th Arango International Design Contest, Glass that works' with the Delta, in Miami in 1984. The vase is part of several museum collections, including those of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. 'The architect Mart van Schijndel became on of the most successful self-producing designers, without actively seeking it out. In 1981 he first showed his Delta vase composed of three rectangular glass pieces in the Hans Appenzeller gallery in Amsterdam.' In good condition, with the original packaging. See photos to get an accurate impression.
