Wonderful Impressionist landscape motif of the listed painter Jules Bernard from Grenoble. The painting distinguishes itself by a powerful brush ductus, its excellent colour as well as the beautiful details (shadow and water reflections). Provenance: Ernest de Frenne, gallery owner, artist and illustrator. Bernard was a landscape and portrait painter. He studied at the École of des Beaux-Arts in Paris under I. Pils and E. Hébert. He exhibited, among others, in the Salons de Paris between 1878 and 1885. Between 1997 and 1917, he was also curator of the Musée de Grenoble. The frame of the painting has flaws.
