Max van der Linden - escultura - Cerámica

Very nice sculpture made of glazed, varnished ceramic, triptych, unsigned but lovely by the famous Belgian artist ceramist: Max van der Linden (1922 - 1999). This work, from the second half of the 20th century, represents: "The disciples from Emmaus. Two young people leave today’s world. Walking in the silence of the desert, they meet someone and ask him "Reste avec nous". (Stay with us)" Size: Height: 33.5 cm Length: 52 cm Depth: 4.5 cm. Very good overall condition, just one defect that needs to be mentioned, the tree on the left was broken but it has been re-stuck and it’s hardly visible (see photos). Pick up at my place or I can deliver within a radius of 350 km (at the expense of the buyer). "Maximilien (called Max), Arthur, Joseph, Marie, Ghislain, Georges, Baron van der Linden, (aka Miqui) was born on 1st June 1922 at Nodebais Castle, Brabant Wallon, and died on 25th November 1999. He was a Belgian ceramic artist. He is a graduate of the Institut des Arts décoratifs in La Cambre. Van der Linden’s work was inspired by the message of Christ and guided by a very broad sense of the sacred, rooted in daily and rural life. His work frequently incorporated themes of music, solitude, death, anxiety in the face of chaotic or threatening changes in the contemporary world. He discretely evokes another outcome through a gesture of solidarity, a meeting beyond conventions or humoristic details. In his opinion, every one of us is sacred in our way and necessary for the future of humanity. He was a friend of King Baudouin. He started the Fêtes de la Saint-Martin, organised each year in November in Tourinnes-la-Grosse. Julos Beaucarne describes him as The Man Who Made Stars with Mud. His nephew and student, Stéphane Terlinden, perpetuates the art of the enamelled ceramic painting in his own way. He was elevated to the rank of baron by King Albert II of Belgium in 1993.
