Reloj carruaje - Henry Jacot - Bronce dorado - siglo XIX
A very fine quality late 19th century French striking and repeating CARRIAGE CLOCK of substantial size, by the eminent maker, Henry Jacot. He and his nephew were, as internet states "probably the best of the Paris producers of carriage clocks towards the end of the 19th century."
The heavy "gorge" case is of excellent quality, as one would expect of Jacot, and it retains its original gilding. The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a blued steel gong and repeating hours at will by pressing the repeatbutton on the top of the clock. It retains its original platform lever escapement. The white enamel dial is perfect (not one chip) as are the blued steel 'Breguet' moon hands, and it is signed with the makers trademark on the backplate. All is in perfect working order.
The clock comes with the antique matching double ended key.
Highth of the clock with handle up is 17,5cm. Clock runs excellent on time.
**The Jacot trademark is a parrot on a stand with the initials "HJ" either side. A "jacot" is French for a parrot, or "Pretty Polly".
A carriage clock in this mint original condition does not often comes to auction.
The clock will be packed with most care and shipped insured with track and trace.
Please not that it is possible that the clock will need re-adjustment of the striking mechanism after his journey.
