This lovely chair is very decorative and made of beautiful wood.
. The design dates back to the Pharaoh era. In ancient Rome, the curule seat (Latin: sella curulis) referred to a honour seat, which was used by the highest officials as an official distinguishing sign, just as the King did before them. After Roman times, the curule seat was used as a collective name for all curule-like chairs that were also referred to as curule chairs. Nowadays, it is the generic name for chairs with curved X-shaped legs.
The first known chairs with the distinctive cross shape date back to the Egyptian New Kingdom, when graves were found containing this type of curule chairs. Over the centuries, the chair was given all kinds of names such as a Dante, Savonara, Petrarca or Dagobert chair.
