Info: Jan Toorop (1858-1928) was, together with Van Gogh and Mondriaan, considered one of the most important Dutch artists of the period around the 1900s. They focussed themselves on the newest, international developments in arts and new how to inspire other artists. For example, Toorop was a great source of inspiration to Gustav Klimt.  The most important Dutch painter of symbolism. His work, however, evolved into this style with his debuting impressionism, in which he showed the light in colour, and his subsequent divisionism. Jan Toorop is the father of Charley Toorop, the grandfather of the artist Edgar Fernhout and the filmmaker John Fernhout and the great-grandfather of Rik Fernhout - four generations of artists.
