Inspiring sculpture, timelessly beautiful design...
Auguste Carli is a French sculptor, who lived between 1868-1930.
Auguste Henri Carli was born on 12 July 1868 in Marseille. He is the brother of the sculptor Émile Aldebert (1872-1957).
He made numerous large sculptures that can be admired in streets and buildings in Marseille.
Auguste Carli won the competition of the School of Fine Arts in Marseille in 1890, which earned him a scholarship to go to the School of Fine Arts in Paris to train in the workshop of Jules Cavelier 1.
Around 1910, he established his own studio in Brussels, where many (religious and fantasy) "figurines" were made in both plaster, baked clay and bronze.
This expressive bust was made in Belgium, produced in a series for the local market in the early 20th century.
