Very rare French ‘voyeuse’ chair.
Pretty woodwork carved with of various elements such as a grotesque character head... some little damages including the character's nose
The padded seat is still comfortable, the suede leather is worn but without any tears.
Stable twisted legs.

A ‘voyeuse’ is a type of chair created by cabinetmakers during the middle of the 18th century for hobbies of life in society. It was used until the late 19th century. This padded chair was a conversation chair or a play chair to play of watch card games, among other things.
One would sit astride, facing the seat, legs opened, elbows and forearms crossed on the thick edge of the backrest.
