Jan Strube - "Oud Breda" (Havermarkt)

Beautiful lithograph made and signed by Jan Strube. It is a drawing with a cityscape of the Havermarkt in Breda with café de Vrachtwagen in the foreground and the Grote Kerk (Our Lady's church) in the background and is entitled "Oud Breda" and signed on the lower right. Made in the period 1930-1940. The whole thing is in neat condition. The mat is somewhat yellowed, the white painted wooden frame is in a slightly lesser condition. Photos are part of the description. Strube (Amsterdam, 1892 - Lies, 1985) was a Dutch painter and graphic artist who spent most of his life living in the province of North Brabant. After the arts and crafts school, Strube attended the Quellinus School; Which was the forerunner of the Rietveld academy. He was most famous for his lithographs depicting the rural life in Brabant. The Grote Kerk of Breda, the harbour and the beguinage were also recurring subjects, as is the case with this copy. Strube also made still lifes, preferably in oil paint. Sometimes, he made still lifes as drawings or even as lithographs. Our items will be well packaged and shipped registered. They can also be picked-up in Breda, The Netherlands.
