Michele Cicala (Palmi RC, 1931) - Still Life (Natura Morta, Vaso con i fiori)

Michele Cicala (Palmi RC, 1931) Still Life (Vase with flowers) Oil on canvas 70x50 cm. Notes: Published, certificate of authenticity, without frame. Signature on bottom left, certificate of guarantee and artist’s biography attached on the back: “… Cicala Michele, born in Palmi (RC) on 30 November 1931. He studied and graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Reggio Calabria. He was a pupil of Professor Francesco Frangipane and participated in the collective exhibition held in the halls of the Academy of Fine Arts in Reggio Calabria in 1948, together with other illustrious artists: Guttuso, Bava, Cannata, Cicala Carmelo etc. He took part in many Italian artistic events, receiving other awards of singular importance. In the last period he has won many awards: The gold medal of the Mostra Nazionale della Tavoletta; gold medal of the Contemporary Art Painting Competition Exhibition - Reggio Calabria 1958; First international painting exhibition - honorary diploma City of Rieti; Johannesburg - Pretoria - Germiston (South Africa 1966). Many illustrious critics have spoken of him with flattering words, in newspapers and specialized publications. Mario Ramadori (painter) wrote: "art is life, life is art, this was Carmelo's belief; so it is for Michele Cicala, who with awareness, avoiding fashions and keeping his autonomous personality intact, as an act of faith, manages to convey, with chromatic wisdom, the existential values of the man of the South, firmly determined to enhance them. Overcoming the horizons of fantasy, in the compositional impetus, from the harmonious luminous cadences with the counterpoint of his evanescent subjects, he offers us an emotional symphony that only the sensitivity of an authentic artist could offer. His works are plastic poems highlighting the search for a recovery of the connotation of art-culture-man; which escapes most ".
