A truly fantastic sword! This "Sword of Genghis Kahn" was issued by Franklin Mint in 1988 and is a faithful copy of the actual sword of the great Mongolian leader of the past. The Institute of Culture in China gave permission to issue this beautiful object in a limited edition, according to Franklin Mint.
The scimitar is approx. one metre long and weighs 2.6 kg. The handle is made of tempered steel. The hilt is a true work of art! Heavy 24 carat gold-plated with Chinese characters and a pommel of dragons, each holding a ball of jade.
The grip is made of Chinese red lacquer “red cinnabar” and is also beautifully carved with a scene of dragons.
The pommel is fixed and cannot be removed.
Please take a good look at the photos! It's an exceptionally intact object!
