Signed watercolour by Jan Korthals. Set in wooden frame with mat and glass. Dimensions: 28.5 x 40 cm (frame) 19 x 28.5 cm (mat). In reasonable condition (see pictures), the paper of the drawing and mat are 'yellowed'. Some traces of wear on frame. About the artist: Jan Korthals (1916 - 1972) was a painter from Amsterdam who worked in impressionistic style. Korthals' style was strongly influenced by his great examples: Breitner and Mackenzie. The latter was also Korthals' uncle and has played a inspirational role in his life. The work by Korthals comprises a large number of townscapes, especially Amsterdam and Parijs; in addition he regularly worked on commissions for illustrations of calenders and other printed matter.
