Beautiful bronze dish from the Art Nouveau period. Such an object is also called a "Vide poche" which means "empty pockets". You did that in the evening. You would remove small objects from your pockets such as, coins, rings, etc. and put them in the dish. The subject is a mermaid with beads and shells in her hand and aquatic plants in relief. The back is marked AM 1914. The object is in good condition with hardly any wear. Dimensions: 20 x 13.5 cm Marked 1914, maybe produced later during the first half of 1900, cast with the profile of a mermaid, decorated with a shell and cattail circlet, holding strands of pearls and shells in her hand, the ground cast in low relief with a heron and other water plants, covered in a golden pastry nation, marked AM 1914. 7 1/2" x 5 1/2".
