This map from which the original was created by Hendrik Hondius in 1641 is named "Nova - Totius - Terrarum - Hajis - Geographica. Ac hydrography Tabula".
Famous for its rich ornamentation, in the corners there are 4 portraits of: Jules Caesar, Ptolemy, Mercator and Jodocus Hondius (father of Henricus).
There are also the 4 elements in the shape of the God of fire, Goddess Diane surrounded by birds to represent air, Abundandia representing the Earth and Aquarius surrounded by fish to represent the water. In the middle, there is a globe, below the sun and below that the moon and a queen honoured by the people of Earth.
Integrated some of the cartographic map misunderstandings of the 17th century : California represented as an island, Australia incomplete, and a whole section left blank under the name of "LIS INCOGNITA"
