A WAKIZASHI IN KOSHIRAE, EDO Japan, Edo period (1615-1868) The blade: Long light thin Hira-zukuri with iori mune, the hamon is clear chu sugu nioi deki with utshuiri, the hada is mokume. The Original muromachi habaki is of silver with a floral design. The nakago is suriage with one mekugi-ana, the yasurime is sujikai, the tip is haagari. The mounting: The iron tsuba of maru-gata shape and ring punched, decorated with a gnarly branch and foliage. The fuchi of bronze and copper with a floral design, the kashira of copper and with swirling vines Moon of Toyotomi. The menuki of shakudo depicting benkei in his conch, the handle with black-colored lacing. The saya with deep black roironuri. NAGASA 43.5 cm, blade LENGTH 56.4 cm, total LENGTH 72.8 cm (the koshirae) Condition: Good condition, minor fukure and wear. The mounting of good condition with minor nicks and scratches, small flakes to the lacquer, natural age cracks, the kozuka missing.
